And now for something completely different!

In our last blog we touched on reminiscing. In our latest blog we're going for a little more of that, but excitedly, we’re looking to the future too.

You all know how music is an important influence here at Sauce & Brown, well, we had some friends reach out with an interesting proposition, and that got us thinking...

The local area has much to celebrate musically, but this conversation brought some powerful memories back regarding Nottinghamshire, specifically Mansfield and its connection to what was then a much younger electronic music scene.

Back in the 90s, Mansfield had a number of popular nightclubs, but perhaps most famous was Venue 44 on Belvadere Street. Many promotions put on incredible nights at Venue 44, but the one that sprung to mind was Renaissance.

Renaissance was simply incredible, people would travel from across the UK to hear the very best DJs, with the DJs themselves often traveling from across the globe to visit this humble mining town. In just one May, Mansfield played host to Darren Emerson of Underworld fame, Danny Rampling, Lisa Loud, Tom Wainwright, Frankie Knuckles flew in from the USA and of course the legendary Sasha, not once but 3 times! This was just one of the many special months of partying in Mansfield. Others would see the likes of Jeremy Healy, John Digweed, Alistair Whitehead, Mike Pickering, M-People, Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Dave Seaman, Masters at Work and many, many more visit the town.

These memories brought our conversation with The Arena Project into sharp relief. The Arena Project was established by a group of like-minded friends, some of them known to us here at Sauce & Brown. The team have been running events across the UK for some time, after a long hiatus, the team got back together and their plans got supercharged!

Their first night back in Mansfield was just a couple of months ago at Prior's Well Brewery, this was a sold out gig with Judge Jules, Yomanda and a host of incredible talent.

The Arena Project team is just getting started, with a huge event announced for Nottingham at the beautiful Binks Yard venue in The Island Quarter on June 15th. Almost echoing the past, the team are bringing emerging talent together with genuine DJ legends, Eddie Halliwell, Fergie (flying in from Vegas), Ibiza Rocks residents Switch Disco along with special guest Chapter & Verse are supported by This Culture and Capital Dance's Zofia.

Which brings us back to Mansfield, The Arena Project have teamed up with the famous Canvas venue to host their house music focused brand KISH. Taking place on July 27th, KISH brings the Grammy nominated Wh0 to Mansfield fresh off the back of their new release 'Sunglasses' which followed their recent rejig of the mighty "Needin' U". They'll be supported by Nottingham's own Holl3 who's becoming a local legend in her own right.

So where do Sauce & Brown figure in all of this? Well after we got talking with The Arena Project team, we collectively got excited about ways we can potentially work together. Specifics are still being discussed, but for now we've got a 15% discount for all of our Sauce & Brown friends for both the Binks Yard and Canvas event. Hey Jane, I only just saw your response and I have to say I was overwhelmed. I immediately shared this with The Arena Project team and the message struck a chord with all of us. Everything you wrote aligns with what we’re hoping to achieve with our events. Ultimately it’s about the people on the dance floor, loving the music and having a great time. We’re so very grateful for your message, it’s feedback like this that makes our efforts worthwhile. So, thank YOU for your support and we hope you continue to enjoy our events in the future.

All the very best from all of us at The Arena Project.

Just like to say it’s absolutely brilliant what all of you are doing putting life back in our community again with music, and seeing the smiles on everyone’s face when i went to the Mansfield arena project, everyone friendly and loving the music, bumping into people you had not seen for years,so yes it’s all exciting what all the team is doing, just like to say one thing about myself,I had not been out of the house for a very long time due to splitting with my partner and which as left me strugging with depression and anxiety very hurt, the arena project gave me a little confidence boost to go out my comfort and get tickets for your Mansfield night, and what a night it was amazing , so thank you to everyone involved and the djs for the music, keep up the good work 👏 love Jane X
