HQ and the interesting people it attracts.

HQ, as we humbly name the home of S&B lives and breathes in the heart of the midlands off the beaten track. We don't reside on an industrial park like a Nando's or Ikea, we don't get our kicks being in the hustle and bustle of a city centre like one of Mike Ashley's puppets.

It's seems bizarre that we chose this location but we don't need to be beside the competition, in a unique way we house, shop, office, warehouse and fulfilment all under one roof. It cuts down our daily commute and keeps the work home balance in equilibrium.

In turn this brings in many customers with their own little story to tell.

A saxophonist for the music big hitters like Liam Gallagher.

A guy from LA who put the guys from TOTO together in his garage.

Milky from This is England

From pro sport stars to veterans of war, luckily we get to chat to all of you and me for one absolutely loves it

And more recently the unassuming Martin Darke.

Martin called in this year and from the moment he crossed the S&B threshold, he interested me. He grew up in Nottingham gained a triple honours degree at Sheffield University and then somehow managed to jam in so much into his life, from working in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC to me and you). He spent time in Muscat before returning to Hong Kong which led him to taking on a role at Ernst & Whinney and later moving to Australia.

As I stood there gobsmacked he then drops out that he had wrote a book too. In essence this is the reason for the blog, at such a tough economical time with job searches at an all time high I thought this may have been of some value to you wonderful people out there.

The 30-Second Impact Résumé

"I genuinely believe that there is no valid reason why résumés should not be standardised with a simple, easy-to-read format, which tells the reader everything they need to know in order to make the decision as to whether or not interview the candidate.

After all, that's what résumés are for - getting the interview."
